My new book Designing for NEED is officially live

Good morning!

I’m excited to announce that my new book, Designing for Need:The New Rules of Customer Experience in Banking officially launches today.

Designing for Need introduces a framework for financial services institutions based on over 20 years of designing customer experiences: separate WANT-to-do experiences from NEED-to-do ones—and stop borrowing playbooks from entertainment brands to solve task-based problems.

Here, you’ll learn a language leaders can align on, a way to diagnose where “delight” is backfiring, and principles that translate directly into simpler journeys—without relying on gimmicks, jargon, or performative CX.

If you want a CX strategy your organization can actually execute—one that turns complexity into clarity and helps customers get in, get done, and get on with life—start here.

What’s my give? My publisher has agreed to discount the Kindle version of my book from its full list price down to $0.99 for the first week of launch so I can share it with friends and family inexpensively. I’d love to offer you a discounted copy! For those of you without Kindles, the paperback and hardcover versions are also available.

What’s my ask? Do NOT feel obligated, but if you have an active Amazon account, I’d be extremely grateful if you could buy the book and leave a short review

Reviews are the most important factor in how many new readers the book is able to reach, and each one makes a real difference.

That’s it! Thank you so much for your support. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

Best,

Derek
